Since it’s March, and St. Patrick’s Day and all things Irish are generally celebrated in the states, I wanted to try my hand at Irish Soda Bread. It is similar looking to the Barm Brack recipe I tried out earlier this month, yet very different!

The recipe I used was straight to the point, very quick and simple to follow, and the best part is it’s on a beautiful baking dish!

(I am not affiliated with any of these links at this time.) This gorgeous dish is from the Grasslands Road collection-it can be found on Amazon. We received it as a Christmas gift a few years ago. I thought it would be fun to test out the recipe on it, and I was really satisfied with the results!

You mix all of the dry ingredients,

add in all of the wet ingredients and mix together well.

Grease and flour the baking dish, put the dough in the dish and bake at 350* for 50 minutes.

I personally did NOT bake in this dish, I used a non-stick round cake pan. The dish does say it is usable in the oven, microwave and can be washed in the dishwasher. I treat this dish as a collectible and do not eat off of it. 😉 We have more of the Grasslands Road Celtic knot items in our collection. You should really check them out if you’re into the knot theme! Beautiful pieces!

As for the Irish Soda Bread, I really enjoyed how easy this recipe was. The bread is almost cake like, but not too sweet. The crust is solid but not too tough. The bread tastes fabulous by itself and with butter! Some other soda bread recipes call for yellow raisins-you could easily sub half and half with yellow and purple raisins here, depending on your preference. Such a delicious Irish soda bread!!

Are you a fan of soda bread? Do you have another variation you use?
